A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
"Give me to learn each secret cause; Let number's, figure's motion's laws Revealed before me stand; These to great Nature's scene apply, And round the Globe, and through the sky, Disclose her working hand." - Mark Akenside 1721-1770 ( Hymn to Science in works of the English Poets, ed S Johnson 1779)
Hi all ! If anything that can be singly unique to humans, than that quality has to be his quest for knowledge, his quest for the truth. That alone seperates him from other species. I mean horses also see birds fly but it doesn't strive to fly. Man sees birds fly and he builds airplanes and he flies! A lion, after a hefty meal, is lazing in some jungle. It's night time and the skies are dotted with drifting clouds illuminated by a beautiful full moon. Innumerable stars are twinkling in the vast background. The river down below shimmers with their light. Its a beautiful spectacle. But the lion is clearly not awed . It jus dozes off! Man looks at the same things, and romantics among them pens a beautiful poem, the curious among them wonders about the mechanics behind it all, the theist among them marvels at the wonderful creation of God. The opening quote above beautifully captures the modern science's way of query, the numbers, figures & laws. My URL is 'cosmosbiostheos', which actually is the title of the book, " Cosmos, Bios, Theos: Scientists Reflect on Science, God, and the Origins of Universe, Life and Homo Sapiens" by Henry Margenau. I am no scientist but my interests lie in similar topics, and i like the sound of it( because it rhyms) so i use it here. (btw i haven't read this book so far, couldn't get it...so if any of you know how to procure it in India, lemme know). My blog is an amature's attempt to reflect on these topics and share it with people with similar interests. Comments and suggestions are more than welcome!! Thank you.
